Hello Rewriters!
It’s been a while. We’re excited to restart Re/Re/Rewrite after nearly a year. Welcome to our new inquirers, readers and writers!
One of the entries in Jessica Hopper's book, The First Collection of Criticism by a Living Female Rock Critic, is an overwrought declaration of total need for music generally, and a Van Morrison song in particular. For our return to Re/Re/ReWrite, let's follow Hopper's lead and write about some piece of art or design that we unabashedly, emotionally, even pathetically, love, love, love. Something we want... Something we need...
We could follow her formula:
set the scene; put us there with you and the thing you love
describe the thing
reflect on what the thing means to you
get existential: what's the REAL MEANING behind the thing anyway?
end by admitting something, maybe simple, maybe profound...
Or just dive in and tell us what you love and why!
Her piece, titled “I Have a Strange Relationship With Music” can be found here.
We'll meet on Sunday, Dec 10; submit your piece to this folder by Saturday, Dec 9 so we can read it ahead of time; and as always, you can write or "write," which means messing around with form and content. Make it visual, aural, slippery, whatever!
We invite you to join us!
